Bestefar, Emi & Mook
Staying at "the farm" in the sleepy village Huai Mak Daeng without any particular plans apart from having a good time, we lost track of time (or at least the day of the week) in a few days. Therefore, we're just going to share a few moments with you without worrying too much about chronology. I think it was "week 4" 2014 for those who keep track of weeks (according to a mail from the kindergarten).
Astrid at the King's party
During the first weekend, we visited Chaiyaphum (the city in the centre of the region with the same name). Actually, it feels like we visited the city almost every day for some reason or another, but I think we avoided it in the end. Anyway, there was a big market downtown which they reffered to as "the King's party". My father's wife Dow went there with 4 members of her family with two pickup trucks loaded with mangos, 1500 kg in total. They sold out 1000 kg on Saturday, and the rest on Sunday, making a good profit. In fact, they could have sold everything on the first day, but I had the keys to the gates in my pocket, so they weren't able to get more fruit :-/
Selling mangos at the market
The market was very noisy, with loud music and announcements trying to get everyone's attention. While Astrid, Fam, and Jan went back to the car to seek refuge, Anders, Emi, and Mook hunted for elephants.
At the end of the day, everyone was happy after a hard day's work... or play :-)
